A Wonderful Day

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of the beauty surrounding this wonderful day!

Sorry I haven't written much lately; I've been busy and haven't had the chance.

Yesterday Eric and I went to Yosemite. I went with my family when they visited in August, but this was Eric's first time. I can't get enough of this place. It is absolutely beautiful there. I was excited to plan a day trip for the two of us in Yosemite Valley. We ate a delicious lunch at the coolest hotel (The Ahwahnee) and had a loser of a server, we wandered around the hotel grounds (absolutely beautiful!) and had fun climbing rocks, we went to Bridalveil Falls and climbed more rocks, went to the Tunnel View and admired the scenery, and then we had a bit of drama!

As we were driving to Glacier Point for the sunset, Eric noticed the hills were eating more gas than we realized, so we had to drive about thirty minutes to Wawona for the nearest gas station. Being on a time schedule with the sun, we knew we would rather miss the sunset than see it and have to walk over 30 miles for gas. So Eric went as fast as he could up and down the hills and around all the curves to fill up the car. Once the car was full of gas, we decided to turn around and try and make it to Glacier Point because we had made good time and might be able to enjoy the very end of sunset and get some good pictures.

We might have caught part of the sunset if we had hit the road 15 seconds earlier. We got stuck behind a minivan that was CRAWLING through the turns. No biggie, right? They can use a turnout and we can get past them. NO, this driver decided he/she wasn't holding up the two cars behind them and skipped numerous turnouts. A jeep behind us began honking at them every time they skipped a turnout and everyone was irritated! About twenty minutes later, they finally decided to used a turnout. Thanks a lot, we didn't really want to see the sunset!

We still went up to Glacier Point because we were going to look at the stars. We got there at dusk and the sun was sinking quickly behind the mountains. We looked down on the valley and the lights and enjoyed the crisp air. The stars began appearing as the light disappeared. They were BEAUTIFUL! It is amazing how many there were because there were no lights, clouds, smog, and because we were at an altitude of over 7,000 feet! As we talked and looked around, an astronomer brought a group of people up to the point for a lesson. We joined in and learned about and saw several constellations, it was very interesting!

I have decided that I want to go to Yosemite in the winter to see everything covered in snow and also in the spring when the snow is melting and the falls are raging with the water from it! Yosemite is a place you should visit at least four times, once every season! I've really only been in the valley and I know there is so much more to the park that I have to see! It is just an amazing place!

Saturday was a very wonderful day. Eric and I were able to enjoy the beauty of Yosemite together! You can't beat a day like that!

Out sick

It looks as if I will spend the weekend on drugs. I have been out sick the past 2 days (Thursday and Friday) and I went to the doctor today. She didn't really tell me a lot, but she said my throat was inflamed and gave me some antibiotics. It will be nice when they start working because my throat is killing me.

On Wednesday, I went to the "girl doctor" (yeah, yeah, sorry about the tmi) and we started discussing the headaches I have ALL THE TIME. She said it sounds like a tension headache and prescribed me muscle relaxers and motrin. She said I should wait to start these until the weekend. Even though I have been home for the last two days, I decided to wait until tonight to take them. I haven't felt well enough to go to the pharmacy and when Eric got home last night, I didn't want to send him back out for it. He had a long day and was exhausted.

We'll see how it goes. I am hoping I feel well enough to go to the Winchester Mystery House and Santa Cruz on Sunday with Eric. We were supposed to go Monday (Labor Day) but I had yet another headache that wouldn't go away with Ibprofen or rest. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
Eric and I are going to grab some In and Out burgers (because fortunately, my appetite has not been affected by this illness! haha) and get my presciptions filled, so I will write more later! Take care!

Getting Started...

Hi! If you are reading this thing, welcome. My name is Shannon. I don't know if I should start writing "things about me" like we all did in elementary school, or if I should just let things happen.

I'll guess I'll give the basics. I am very happily married, living in California temporarily, and am about a year and a half away from getting my Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I am an OSU alum and a Cowboys football and basketball fanatic. My husband and I have 2 cats (Bender and Ellie) that are spoiled to no end. When we buy a house in a couple years, we will add dogs to the mix and then a couple years after that kids. Until then, we are going to spoil ourselves and travel!

I think I will leave it at that for now. To give you a heads up, this blog will be a lot of personal happenings and opinion pieces on the happenings around the world. Really just a basic blog... I put what I feel like putting!

p.s. If you were wondering, the title is a line from "Only in Dreams" by Weezer. They are my one of my all-time favorite bands. It is a beautiful song (even better live) and that line is true to me. You have to take a chance with some things to get somewhere good.
